Service Description
An interactive seminar for Year 9 - 13 students on sustaining dancers’ physical and mental health through dance science. Aims: 1. To introduce students to the concept of dancers as athletes, highlighting the importance of supplementary training, recovery, injury prevention, and proper nutrition to support their physical training. 2. To equip students with practical knowledge and strategies for maintaining their mental health and wellbeing to avoid burnout and to cope with performance anxiety. 3. To challenge misconceptions around dancer’s health, promoting safe practice and the variety of training methods. 4. To raise awareness of dance science as a field of study and the range of training and career opportunities within the field. Timings: • 2 hours total, including a 5-minute break • Can be delivered in the morning or after lunch Numbers: • Max number of students: 20 • Number of workshop facilitators: 1 lead and 1 assistant (if available)
Terms & Conditions
1. Travel Costs • Workshops delivered within a 10-mile radius of WD23 are not subject to travel fees. For locations beyond this point, travel will be charged at £0.45 per mile (round trip). 2. Bookings • A booking is considered ‘penciled in’ when the client provides Evolution Dance Company (EDC) with a completed booking form. This must be at least 14 days (including holidays) in advance of the workshop date. At this point, EDC will provide the client with an invoice. • A booking is considered ‘confirmed’ when the client pays the invoice in full. EDC will send an email to the client to confirm this. This must be within 7 days of the workshop being ‘penciled in’, otherwise EDC retains the right to cancel. 3. Cancellations and Rescheduling by the Client • Cancellations made 30 days or more before the workshop delivery date will receive a full refund. • If the booking was made between 14 and 29 days before the delivery date, the client may cancel within 24 hours of receiving booking confirmation with a full refund. • After this 24-hour grace period, cancellations made between 14 and 29 days before the delivery date will receive a 50% refund. • Cancellations made 13 days or fewer before the delivery date are non-refundable, including cancellations due to unforeseen school closures (e.g. adverse weather, emergency situations, strike action, or other events outside EDC’s control). • If the client requests to reschedule the workshop after the 24 hour grace period and is within 14 and 29 4. Cancellations and Rescheduling by EDC • EDC will avoid rescheduling as much as possible, but if they must, the client will receive written confirmation within 72 hours of the delivery date. If this occurs, the client will receive a 15% discount on their next booking as an apology. • In the rare event that EDC must cancel entirely, a full refund will be issued within 14 days of cancellation. 5. Behaviour and Safety • EDC staff are entitled to a safe, respectful, and inclusive working environment. If any EDC employee feels threatened, discriminated against, harassed, or believes their health or safety is at risk, the session may be immediately suspended or terminated without refund. EDC reserves the right to refuse or discontinue service in such circumstances.
