EDC debuted at Roots & Resonance, a culture, music, and art festival held at BEAM Theatre and produced by Three's Company Productions. We will performed a site-specific version of our first dance work, 'Who Am I?'

 

'Who Am I?' is a dance work based on Erving Goffman’s sociological concept of perception of self. Goffman believes that individuals wear metaphorical masks to manage other people’s opinions and that these masks can change in different social situations. Like actors on a stage, people adjust their behaviour to fit roles, aiming to protect their identity, avoid embarrassment, and maintain social harmony in everyday interactions.

 

'Who Am I?' investigates the dancer’s true identity underneath the social mask and seeks to understand who they are as individuals. Additionally, choreography is inspired by the dancer's and choreographer's culture, religion and ethnicity where they explore their roots and what they resonate with.
